The Carolina Gold Rush was the first gold rush in the United States, and Mint Hill played an important role.
In the Carl J. McEwen Historic Village, the Surface Hill Gold Assay Office is preserved along with a variety of equipment used in gold mining in Mint Hill and our area of North Carolina.
At our fall festival in 2022, YouTube creator Lisa Rudisill created a 13 minute video documenting gold panning as well as other visitor activities.*
