The image is a sepia-toned collage of historical reenactors dressed in early 20th-century or late 19th-century attire. On the left, a man wearing a vest, white shirt, and hat stands beside vintage equipment, possibly a printing press or farm machinery. In the center, a group of men and women in period clothing, including long skirts, blouses, shawls, and hats, pose together in front of a rustic wooden building. On the far right, one woman sits knitting while another stands beside a wooden barrel pump, suggesting daily life scenes from a bygone era. The warm, antique color palette evokes a nostalgic, museum-like atmosphere.

2026 Annual Meeting Audio Interview Clips

This evening is the annual meeting of the Mint Hill Historical Society, and our keynote is “Mint Hill Firsts and Treasures,” presented by volunteer, Wes Fryer.

Wes is sharing audio clips from two of the oral history interviews conducted in the past two years. The first is by Meredith Earp, remembering Bain Academy and Bain School. (2 min, 13 seconds)

The second audio clip is from an interview with MHHS Board Chair and President, Stan Davis. It is titled, “From West Virginia’s First Black Air Traffic Controller to Healing and Friendship.” (5 min, 41 sec)

In the weeks and months ahead, we will be publishing full audio interviews with Mint Hill residents like Meredith Earp and Stan Davis, along with transcripts and highlight clips like these in a new podcast. Stay tuned for more!

The slides from Wes Fryer’s presentation this evening are also available.
